The red brick church that stands on the corner of E. 10th St. and Avenue A in Manhattan's East Village has been home to a unique religious and ethnic community for nearly a century. This documentary captures the stories of three generations of parishioners of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church. The early members tell of their experiences as they immigrated to America from Carpatho-Russia (Slovakia) in Eastern Europe. Succeeding generations describe how this social and religious community continues to affect their lives, serving as a testimony to the importance of tradition, family, friendship and faith in today's ever-changing world.
